TRAVELLERS  DECLARATION  FORM

1July 2000 -- The Royal Customs and Excise Department today introduced the Customs Declaration form to be filled by bona fide travellers in efforts to speed up the process of customs clearance for travellers.

Its implementation takes effect tomorrow at all international airports in the country such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and airports for local flights such as the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang. However, it will not be
implemented yet at entry points via land and sea.

The forms will be given free of charge and travellers can fill them up while on flight to indicate whether they have anything to declare.

If they fill up the space indicating that they have some items to declare then they should head for the Customs Inspection Counter at the arrival hall.

If they fill up the space indicating that they have nothing to declare, then they can proceed to the green lane and hand over the forms to the Customs officer on duty. The Customs officer on duty will decide whether the baggage of the traveller concerned
should be checked or otherwise.

Any traveller facing problems in filling up the form or are doubtful about the items which are taxable, they can get in touch with any Customs officer on duty.

As a guide, the list of items usually brought in by travellers which are taxable or exempted from tax or prohibited from being brought into the country can be obtained from the Customs website at http://www.customs.gov.my under the title "Passenger
Clearance".
